After a successful year of raising $2,000 dollars for the Children’s Health Foundation, the Social Science Students’ Council is going to continue to create awareness and raise money for the Children’s Health Foundation this year! We have adopted the title of the Bravery Bunch- a committee working together to give little hearts big futures.
The Children’s Health Foundation is a non- profit organization that supports both the Children’s Hospital and the Children’s Health Research Institute in London, Ontario. By supporting the Children’s Health Foundation we are able to help many children in need, experiencing an array of diseases and injuries. Many of the life saving medical machines and technology that are excellent for treating adults, do not work at all for children, so that is where we come in! Whether we are able to help supply new equipment to help an infant breathe, or support for a research initiative to help prevent a disease or illness in children of the future, there is plenty that social science students can do to help!
This year, Neha Chandrachud , VP Student Affairs and Devon Montemurro, Charity Commissioner are working together with our enthusiastic group of students on the SSSC Charity Committee to take this initiative even further. When the children at the hospital undergo a treatment they receive a bravery bead to put on a necklace, to demonstrate their success in undergoing a specific treatment. The Bravery Bunch has our own set of bravery beads, that for ever dollar raised we put a bead on our string – in hopes to one day wrap the bravery beads around a floor of the Social Science Building. Join us, as Social Science supports the Children’s Health Foundation. We need your help, “giving little hearts, big futures”.
