Last year, the Social Science Students’ Council adopted the Children’s Health Foundation as our official charity. Through this affiliation, the SSSC and the Charity Committee are dedicated to raising awareness and support for the Children’s Health Foundation in the Western community. The Children’s Health Foundation is a non- profit organization that supports both the Children’s Hospital and the Children’s Health Research Institute in London, Ontario. By supporting the Children’s Health Foundation we are able to help many children in need, experiencing an array of diseases and injuries. After visiting the Children’s Hospital, we learned that many of the life saving medical machines and technology that are excellent for treating adults, do not work at all for children. As caring for children with these health conditions proves difficult every day, there is always a way that we can help. Whether we are able to help supply new equipment to help an infant breathe, or support for a research initiative to help prevent a disease or illness in children of the future, there is plenty that social science students can do to help.
