The Social Science Students' Council is proud to announce its newfound affiliation and commitment to support the Children's Health Foundation.
Since the summer, Michelle Mah, Charity Commissioner, and Lauren Alboini, VP Student Affairs, have been busy planning and developing a new charity initiative for the SSSC to adopt this year.
The new strategy was to be a new direction and approach to charity. Designed to increase the impact and commitment of council's charity initiatives in the local community. In the past, the SSSC has supported an array of different charities throughout the year, however this year we thought we’d focus our efforts and build a meaningful and lasting affiliation with one charity; one we have narrowed down to the Children’s Health Foundation.
An overarching purpose to this initiative would be to unite Social Science students – to extend this opportunity to students beyond the SSSC. As we are the biggest faculty on campus, we hope that this affiliation with the Children’s Health Foundation can bring our students together on a meaningful level.
"Michelle and I have been in contact and have met with Jill Osbourne, the Community Relations Manager of the CHF who is in charge of dealing with corporate sponsorships and partnerships. She has been of immense help with getting this project off the ground. On Wednesday, October 7th (our last SSSC meeting) she came in and gave a twenty-minute presentation to our council members. It was extremely moving and inspiring and has instilled strong motivation in the SSSC to fulfill extraordinary philanthropy this year."
