USC Elections 2012

PDFPrintE-mail

If you haven't heard by now, elections campaigning is in full swing and you will soon have the opportunity to get YOUR voice heard on who you want on the University Students' Council for the 2012-2013 academic year.

As well, two very important referendums will be asked regarding the current Health Plan and a proposed Dental Plan.

Health Plan Referendum Question

Are you in favour of Increasing the USC Health Plan fee by ten dollars ($10.00), in addition to ordinary inflationary increases, for the 2012/2013 academic year, and increasing the USC Health Plan fee in subsequent years by up to 7% anually?

This is because the USC currently implements a Health Plan for full-time undergraduate students. The costs of the USC Health Plan have grown to substantially exceed the money generated by the student fee that funds the plan. The USC Health Plan fee must be increased in order to maintain current coverage. If the fee is not increased as proposed below, then coverage must be reduced in order to continue the health plan coverage.

Dental Plan Referendum Question

Do you support the USC in offering a dental coverage plan that will cost $114 per year (with an option to add spouse and/or dependants for an additional fee of $171) and be adjusted accordingly to the Consumer Price Index for Ontario to reflect inflation?

Any student can opt-out, regardless of dental coverage. The Dental benefit would initially provide coverage for:

- 100% dagnostic and preventative services
- 80% fllings and minor restorative
- 80% aesthesia
- 80% priodontal scaling
- 80% rmoval of impacted wisdom teeth
- 10% rot canal treatment
- 10% priodontics (other than scaling)
- $750 annual maximum
